SPS Leadership Scholarship
I’m approaching my senior year at the University of Central Florida as a Physics and Math double major. I’ve served as the Vice President and President of my local SPS chapter for the last two years. In this time, I’ve worked to revamp my chapters communication systems which included developing a Google Play App to help students study for the GRE and communicate with chapter officers. I also have been pushing many of our members to be more involved in the national organization which has led us to win one of the SPS Research awards, as well as a SPS Project award. This past year we also held an event called a Raspberry jam which hosted undergraduates, graduates, and faculty from 5 different Florida universities to celebrate Raspberry Pi’s and their applications in the physical sciences. Outside of SPS, I have been conducting research with a faculty member at my institution studying non-local heat transport using Green-Kubo methods. This upcoming year I will be serving as the Zone 6 Associate Zone Councilor and preparing my applications for graduate school in Condensed Matter theory.
