Juniata College
2018
SPS Leadership Scholarship
I am a junior at Juniata College, majoring in both Physics and Mathematics. I became involved in SPS the first semester of my freshman year, becoming vice president during my junior year. During my time in SPS, I have focused on outreach programs to the surrounding community. These programs include an eclipse viewing for the town and physics demonstration nights to introduce physics to children in the area. I have been voted in as president for my chapter next year and I plan to continue and possibly expand, these outreach events. This summer I will be participating in an REU at The University of Washington working on ultracold atoms and quantum gases. After I complete my undergraduate degree I plan on pursuing a doctorate in optical physics with an emphasis on ultracold atoms. Outside of physics, I enjoy Ultimate Frisbee, soccer, and hiking.
