Brandon Buncher

Biography

I am a senior at the College of William and Mary majoring in physics and minoring in music. I became involved in SPS during my first semester of freshman year. During my sophomore year, I became vice president, and progressed to president for my junior and senior years. My goal was to create an inclusive chapter in which everyone participated in meetings. I developed fun, interactive meetings, such as "the physics of baking," as well as engaging projects, such as the construction of a VCR that ejects toast. In addition, I aim to enable all members of our department to achieve success. I began a series of lectures on how to succeed in physics, such "How to Get Into Graduate School." In addition, we host GRE review sessions and weekly tutoring sessions. We continued our outreach activities through events such as the annual Physicsfest, in which we perform interactive demonstrations for the college and surrounding community. Generously supported by a Marsh W. White award, we were able to create an oobleck pool for this event, greatly improving our most engaging demonstration. In addition to my role in SPS, I am president and founder of my university's Robotics Club. During the summer of 2016, I performed research at Fermilab through the SULI program. Following university, I plan to attend graduate school for theoretical high energy physics.
