University of Wisconsin-River Falls
2022
SPS Future Teacher Scholarship
I will be entering my 5th year at UW- River Falls where I am double majoring in (grad school track) Physics and Physics Education, with a Mathematics Minor. This past year I was the UWRF SPS chapter president and our group was able to have several unique activities such as hosting a zone meeting, creating a 5K run to celebrate the Sigma Pi Sigma Centennial, and doing a physics outreach program for young students through the Minnesota Twins baseball team. I currently serve as a tutor for the introductory physics classes, work in the physics help center which is open to all students in a physics course, am a Wisconsin Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation mentor, and a Peer Academic Leader. I played my final season of division three college football for the UWRF football team. I have been active in research at UWRF in optics and in condensed matter physics. Last summer I did research at the University of Rochester as a part of their Optics REU program. This upcoming summer I will be doing physics education research at the University of Washington in Seattle as a part of their REU program. My current career path will have me graduating from UWRF next spring and then becoming a high school physics teacher while I work on my master's in education. After earning my master's in education, I would like to pursue a Ph.D. in physics education.
