I am Darren McKinnon, and I am a physics student at Utah State University. My specific interest with physics is astrophysics. I am very interested in gravitational waves and binary systems. After I get my bachelors degree, my plan is to go on to earn my doctorate in astrophysics. I hope someday to become a professor so that I can share my love for physics. I am deeply involved with the Society of Physics Students at my university. I have been president for the last year, and I will be again for my remaining year at Utah State.

I originally hail from a small community in South East Idaho. I love to play Ultimate Frisbee, and I am an avid Doctor Who fan. I love to enjoy the outdoors, especially through hiking and backpacking. I have a huge love for science fiction movies and books, and I will shamelessly admit that the astrophysics characters from these helped me decide that astrophysics was the direction for me. I love the sciences (physics in particular), and I thoroughly enjoy sharing that love and knowledge of physics with the public. This is what led me to the Society of Physics Students in the first place.
