Freelance science writer and editor
I am a freelance science writer and editor. After earning a master’s degree in physics, I spent 10 years in the Washington-DC area coordinating national science education and outreach programs, 7 of those years for SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma. I benefited greatly from SPS when I was a physics student at Carthage College, so it was really fun and meaningful to be on the other side!
In 2015 my husband and I moved our family to Minnesota and I focused my efforts on freelance science writing. I contribute regularly to Physics Buzz and the news site of the Materials Research Society. In one of my favorite roles, I am the editor for the SPS Observer and Radiations. Most of my writing highlights physics, astronomy, and materials research news, but I also enjoy writing about science activities for kids and writing grants proposals for the recently established nonprofit Bold North Milk Bank. I'm a member of Sigma Pi Sigma & the National Association of Science Writers. I work from home and when I'm not writing, I'm chasing around my three energetic kids or trying to catch up on sleep.
