Jared Canright

Biography

I am approaching my senior year at New Mexico Tech (NMT) studying physics and electrical engineering with minors in optics and mathematics. My work thus far includes data analysis for the study of tropical cyclogenesis at NMT, characterization of laser-triggered gas switches at the Kirtland AFB Air Force Research Labs, and presently, modeling of supernovae and atmospheric blasts using radiation hydrodynamics codes at Los Alamos National Laboratory. I have run the NMT chapter of SPS since November 2014 and will continue to do so for the upcoming academic year; I have also previously served as the Zone 16 Associate Zone Councilor. Following graduation, I intend to pursue a doctorate degree in physics, likely in either plasma physics or astrophysics. In my copious free time, I enjoy skydiving, skiing, hiking, and am slowly developing a virtual reality data visualization application.
