Amy Zingsheim

Biography

I will be a senior Physics major with a Math minor at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls this next year. I discovered my local SPS chapter my freshmen year, but did not really get involved until my sophomore year when I participated in every outreach activity I could. I served as our chapter president this last year, and when the Coronavirus disrupted our 'normal' lives, I facilitated our weekly online discussions and tried to make sure everyone still felt like a part of our community. For this next year, I wanted to take a more behind the scenes role in our chapter and let someone else get the experience of being president, so I will be our secretary. As far as research projects go, I have worked on simulations for Neutron Monitors and have done some hardware testing with the IceCube collaboration. Upon graduating, my current plan is to experience what life in industry is like before deciding if I want to pursue a higher degree. In the limited amount of free time I find, I enjoy reading and hiking.
