Jose L. Lopez. Ph.D., is a physics professor in the Department of Physics at Seton Hall University. He has been an active member of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) since his undergraduate days. He has served as an SPS faculty adviser for nearly a decade. He has served as the Zone Councilor for Zone 3 since 2011. He is the founder and director of the Laboratory for Electrophysics & Atmospheric Plasmas (LEAP) at Seton Hall University. He is a world-renown expert in atmospheric plasmas and in particular microplasmas, and some of his discoveries and ideas have led to new cutting-edge technologies and applications. Professor Lopez is widely recognized by the international mass news media community for his insight and abilities as an educator and communicator of scientific and technological concepts.
