The new school year has officially begun, and I’m a little over 3 weeks out from the end of my SPS internship. Coming back to school means being met with many inquiries into my summer and how I spent it. I am always so excited to share my summer experience at APS and SPS with people, and to tell them about all of the incredible things I was able to do throughout the summer. From meeting a Nobel laureate to spending a week at Comic Con, my summer was packed with wonderful events from start to close.
I’m so happy to see the work I started over the summer being continued at APS. The Snapchat stories I’ve caught over the past few weeks have been great—especially with the addition of PhysicsQuest experiment testing every now and again. I can't wait to see what else the account has in store!
To any future SPS interns:
Take advantage of the opportunities SPS provides for you. This is a truly amazing program, and you will be able to achieve great things if you give it a shot. Go all in at your organization, you never know what opportunities could pop up for you… you might get to have one of those once in a lifetime experiences if you keep your eyes peeled. You’ll have the chance to interact with very impressive people, both in and out of the field of physics, talk to everyone you meet. You may open doors that you never knew existed. Giving a presentation might seem daunting, but it’s actually a lot of fun. Don’t stress too much over it. The other interns are very interesting, take the time to get to know them—you never know who’ll be a part of your next huge group chat. Finally, have fun: explore, eat, go to museums. DC is a wonderful place that has a little bit of something for everyone.
