SPS Outstanding Chapter Advisor
University of Colorado-Denver
Professor Michael “Bodhi” Rogers is a professor of physics and the chair of the physics department at the University of Colorado Denver. Along with being a Ph.D. physicist he is also a registered professional archaeologist. Bodhi has served on the SPS national council as a Zone Councilor for Zone 2 and is currently the zone councilor for Zone 14. His research interests are focused on physics and astronomy education, middle school and high school science teacher preparation, and geophysical archaeology. For the past several years his team has been using laser scanning to digitize castles in Ireland by taking positional readings every 5 mm inside and out. The resultant point clouds not only create a high-resolution archive of the castles, but are also used to create virtual and enhanced tours through the use of WebGL and visualization tools such as an Oculus and a HoloLens.
