SPS Leadership Scholarship
I am a rising junior at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, majoring in Physics with minors in Mathematics and Computer Science. I have been involved with my local SPS chapter since freshman year, and I was our Outreach Officer my sophomore year and will serve as President this coming year. I’ve enjoyed organizing and participating in lots of local SPS meetings, events, and outreach, and I had the opportunity to attend PhysCon in Washington, DC this past fall! At Rhodes, I am also a member of and serve in leadership roles in Alpha Omicron Pi and Reformed University Fellowship, and I work as a lab TA for the Physics department. I have been able to participate in research with Rhodes faculty and other students, both during the academic year and full-time over the summers, investigating the interaction between charged conducting spheres in a theoretical physics lab and measuring the ultrasonic properties of various fluids and tissues in the Physics Laboratory for Ultrasonic Studies. I’m excited to continue this research throughout my undergraduate career! After graduating from Rhodes, I hope to attend graduate school to study biomedical or environmental engineering, or to pursue a career in software development for scientific research.
